Diverse Patriots African Americans P1

Significantly, the group of individuals who fought to secure liberty and inalienable rights for every individual was diverse. Contrary to popular misconceptions, America definitely was not founded solely by rich white males. For example, there were numerous African American patriots, such as:

Prince Whipple: who accompanied General George Washington in the legendary Christmas Day crossing of the Delaware

Wentworth Cheswill: who in 1768 became the first black man elected to office in America, being reelected for 49 years.

Salem Poor: a decorated soldier in the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Jack “Prince’ Sisson: who played a key part in a daring and dramatic secret mission that set a precedent for today’s Special Forces operations. 

James Armistead: America’s first double spy.
