Diverse Patriots Other Contributors P3
Last week I ended telling you about women being included in joining the cause of the American Revolution giving you several names of women patriots.
Many other women also contributed significantly to independence. As George Washington openly acknowledged, “I think you ladies are in the number of the best patriots America can boast.”
Furthermore, it was not just CHRISTIANS but also JEWS, including:
Haym Salomon, who helped secure the financing for George Washington to continue the Revolution
Isaac Moses, a blockade runner carrying supplies to American troops.
Francis Salvador, the first Jewish patriot elected to a state legislature and the first Jewish soldier to die in the Revolution.
Colonels David and Isaac Franks, military as well as synagogue leaders
There were only about 2,000 Jews in the United States during the War for Independence, but, significantly, many of them played notable roles in America’s struggle.
More on this next week for another American Moment.
