Columbus' writings affirm his strong Christian faith, and the choice of names for the new lands he visited also reflects the Bible's influence upon him. In addition to "San Salvador" (Holy Savior), he named another island "Trinidad" after the Christian Holy Trinity of God. Christian names he bestowed on additional islands and locations included Mary, St. Nicholas, St. Thomas, the Lord's Day, Holy Island and many more. Clearly, the true story of Columbus is very different from the shallow and inaccurate narrative so many hear today.
